WHO WE ARE
Central Assembly, located in Springfield, Missouri, is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world. In June 2007 we celebrated our 100th anniversary. The beginning of our rich heritage can be traced to the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles that began with a meeting on April 14, 1906.
Over the past 100 years of ministry, Central Assembly has been blessed with many ordinary people who God used to build an extraordinary church. Yes, we greatly value our history. It has made us who we are—a church of people firmly committed to being relevant for today through our worship, our teaching, and our compassionate ministry beyond our church walls.
Our central calling as a church is to connect people with God, with each other, and with their purpose in life. This is illustrated by three concentric circles. We GROW as we begin with the inner circle and move outward.
These priorities are built around the scriptural belief that every person has three basic needs:
• Every person needs a purpose (outer circle)
• Every person needs to love and be loved (middle circle)
• Every person needs God (inner circle)
Our Core Values
Our core values as a church are to simply put “action” to each of the three circles. We do this by being:
G—generous hearted. As stewards of our time, talents, and treasures we seek to be people who serve wholeheartedly, give unselfishly, and care sacrificially.
R—relationally connected. Recognizing the God-given need for loving relationships, we seek to be involved in committed friendships and families, networked small groups, and effective ministry teams.
O—outwardly focused. Given the great need in our world for people to know Christ and experience His loving power, we seek to be the kind of church that does not exist for itself.
W—worship centered. Because we were created by God’s hand to live for His glory, we seek lifestyles full of the Holy Spirit, honoring God in both purity and praise.
