Easter at Central Assembly!

Planning your Easter activities? Here’s a lits of all that is Easter at Central Assembly!

“Service of Shadows” Good Friday Service – Friday, March 29, 7:00 pm

Reflect and Rejoice – The Church has practiced the Service of Shadows since
medieval times. Once a service for the monastic community, this practice later
became an important part of worship during Holy Week. We join Christians of
many generations throughout the world in using the Good Friday service as a
time of reflection on the suffering and death of Christ and how that relates to our
redemption in Christ.

The Service of Shadows is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering.
Readings and music trace the story of Christ’s passion and pathos. The power
of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous day. As the
lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death; and
through the return of the small but persistent flame of the Christ candle at the
conclusion of the service, we anticipate the joy of ultimate victory.

The victory will be celebrated then, on Easter morning as we rejoice in
worshiping our resurrected Lord and Savior! Please join us for both of these
uniquely contrasting services culminating the Week of Passion.

Kids Easter Celebration – Saturday, March 30, 9:30-11:30 am.

Come and have fun at the Kids Easter Celebration in the Fusion Center north parking lot. There
will be games, inflatables, candy and more. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt for
ages 0-5 years old. The Fusion Center is across Campbell Street from the main
church building.

Easter Service – Sunday, March 31, 9:00 and 10:30 am – Easter Sunday!

Come and worship with us as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection with Handel’s
Hallelujah Chorus, Were You There, and much more music. A special message
of hope from Pastor Jeff Peterson will complete the celebration.

We sincerely hope you consider Central Assembly in your Easter plans! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church offices at 417.866.5013.
