• After a special guest speaker last Sunday morning, Pastor Jeff returns to the pulpit in both services on Sunday morning with a continuation of the Portraits series.  The message is, “Faith’s Friend of God” and services start at 9 and 10:30a.

• Saturday is Community Engagement day… Oil change and Adopt-a-Block will take place, but the Food Pantry has been rescheduled until next Saturday (May 19) due to a scheduling conflict with our facilities.

• Sunday is Mother’s Day, and did you know it’s the third highest attended service in churches?  Recent research from LifeWay indicates it as such, so you’ll want to come early on Sunday morning to get a good seat!  Services start at 9 and 10:30a!

• Speaking of the services on Sunday morning, a special guest will be presenting in both services.   The guest speaker is Theresa D’Souza Greenhough.  She was born in India to Catholic parents who were touched by the Charismatic movement. Theresa committed her life to Christ and was influenced by her friendship with Mother Teresa. She attended Bible College in Canada, married, and returned to ministry in India.

• Sunday evening services are cancelled – be sure to spend time in fellowship with family and friends.

• We so appreciate all that has been given to the “Pack the Pantry” campaign – it’s been a tremendous success, and it’s only about half way through!  This week’s item to bring in: household cleaners.

• Pastor Jeff continues the Portraits series in both services this Sunday morning with a message called “Faith’s Tension” – A look at Hebrews 11:13-16.  Services start at 9 and 10:30a!

• This week’s item for the Pack the Pantry campaign is Always Save Dish Detergent, which can be purchased at any Walmart for $.97!  Don’t forget to bring these in, or you can designate your offering as “Pack the Pantry.”

• Sunday evening service is going to be one you won’t want to miss.  At 6p, there will be a special time of worship, Word, and prayer.

Pastor Jeff called those in need of miraculous intervention to fast and pray for great intervention.  In a recent letter to the congregation, he stated, “We all have needs.  At times they come in waves, seasons that can almost break us.  At other times, we consider what we are facing so small in comparison to others. Knowing all needs matter to God, this Sunday night we are in particular focusing on great needs; the kind that clearly remind us without God there is no hope.  Whether it be our own or to stand in for the needs of others, we are going to be agreeing in prayer for God to do miraculous things on the behalf of all who call upon Him!”

It’s Friday afternoon, and that means it’s time to start thinking about Sunday!

• We’re about halfway through the Pack the Pantry campaign and still need your participation.  This week: don’t forget to bring in your cans of soup!

• Pastor Jeff continues Portraits in both services on Sunday, with a message called “Laughing Faith”  (Want a hint…it’s part two of the message on Abraham).  Make plans to attend either the 9 or 10:30a service.

• Sunday evening service is a special concert of the graded choirs called “If You’re Breathin’, Praise the Lord.”  This is a fantastic time to come out and support the Kids at Central.  Service starts at 6p – don’t be late!

• Do you have a smartphone and bring it to church?  If so, you can follow the sermon notes using the Holy Bible App from Youversion.  Search for a “Live Event” near our zip (65803) and you’ll find us!

Just a quick couple of reminders for this weekend, and yes, there is a lot happening at Central!

• Saturday is the second Saturday, and that means it’s Adopt a Block (at 10a), Oil Change Ministry (at 9a), Food Pantry (at 10a) and Prayer Ministry (at 10a)!  If you’re looking for an opportunity to serve in a ministry, tomorrow’s your chance.  Come out early and get involved!

• Don’t forget to bring in your cans or donations for the ongoing “Pack the Pantry” campaign.  Grocery carts are located at both the Boonville and Campbell entrances – and this week’s suggested canned item is canned vegetables, or you can designate your offering “Pack the Pantry.”

• Pastor Jeff continues Portraits in both services with a message called “Alone in the World” – and it promises to be a fascinating look at the life of Noah.

• Special Prayer Reminder – Let’s remember all those in our community looking for employment.  The national offices of the Assemblies of God recently laid off 47 employees. Let’s keep them and their families in our prayers during this transition time.  As well, pray for the numerous other Central family members who are also seeking employment.

The pastors and staff at Central would like to express a huge thanks to all the volunteers at the Easter Egg hunt, as well as the volunteers and choir and orchestra members who helped make the Easter Services a success.

There were nearly 1,000 people who attended the Easter Egg Hunt and heard a gospel message.

Additionally, at the Service of Shadows, there were more than 800 people who paused and reflected on the crucifixion, death and burial of Christ.

This was only half of the Easter weekend, however, as nearly 2,000 people returned on Sunday morning to celebrate Christ’s resurrection.  During this survice, 5 people indicated a new relationship with Christ!

Thanks again to everyone who made the Easter efforts a success!

* The 2012 Central Easter Egg hunt is tomorrow morning.  Registration and games open at 10:30a and program and easter egg hunt begin at 11:30a. The event will feature prizes, face painting, popcorn, carnival games, inflatable, and more! This community-wide event at Grant Beach Park (N. Grant & Lynn Streets) is great fun for the entire family.

* Pastor Jeff continues the Portraits series on Sunday morning with “Walking with God” a look at the life of Enoch. Services start at 9 and 10:30a!

* Sunday morning is also baptism Sunday.  Come prepared to celebrate with those being baptized!

* Are looking to get involved with a ministry at Central? People with trade skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc), those willing to visit our nursing home/homebound family, and those looking to get involved with the food pantry are just a few of the opportunities highlighted this Sunday. Many opportunities exist, and additional information can be found in the Connect Center (Room 123) on Sunday morning.

* A huge congratulations to Central’s International ministries for their first ever Midwest Japanese Conference.  Nearly 60 people attended – with some getting saved and some getting baptized in the Holy Spirit!

On Saturday, March 31, prizes, face painting, popcorn, carnival games, inflatables, and more are in store for those coming to Central Assembly’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.  This community-wide event at Grant Beach Park (N. Grant & Lynn Streets) is great fun for the entire family.  Hunt for candy and eggs!  Registration and games are from 10:30-11:30 am. The hunt for ages 1-12 begins at 11:30a.  Hunt areas are set up by age bracket.

“Service of Shadows” Good Friday Service – Friday, April 6, at 7p –

Reflect and Rejoice – The Church has practiced the Service of Shadows since medieval times.  Once a service for the monastic community, this practice later became an important part of worship during Holy Week.  We join Christians of many generations throughout the world in using the Good Friday service as a time of reflection on the suffering and death of Christ and how that relates to our redemption in Christ.

The Service of Shadows is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering.  Readings and music trace the story of Christ’s passion and pathos.  The power of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this momentous day.  As the lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death; and through the return of the small but persistent flame of the Christ candle at the conclusion of the service, we anticipate the joy of ultimate victory.

The victory will be celebrated then, on Easter morning as we rejoice in worshiping our resurrected Lord and Savior!  Please join us for both of these uniquely contrasting services culminating the Week of Passion.

Easter Service – Sunday, April 8, 9a and 10:30a – Easter Sunday!

Come and worship with us as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection with exciting music from the orchestra, choir, and worship band.  A special message of hope from Pastor Jeff Peterson will complete the celebration.

* Sunday morning services start at 9a and 10:30a.  Pastor Jeff continues the Portrats series with a message on “Two Altars: a study of Cain and Abel.”

* We’re still collecting candy for the 2012 Easter Egg Hunt.  Bins will be located at each main foyer entrance.

* This Sunday will be the last day to order Easter Flowers.

* Sunday evening service at 6p features the Evangel University Concert Choir.
